ABSTRACT:

The failure or abandonment of treatment in addictions is a feared fact, often difficult to foresee. Let’s present the questionnaire VPA (Sirvent 2009), of predicting variables of abandonment and adherence to treatment in addictions, with a general scale that indicates the risk of abandonment and 5 subscales which describe the following factors of vulnerability: desires of consumption, motivation, conscience of the problem, adverse feelings, and those related to the treatment. In short, the VPA serves to identify, anticipate and intervene on the abandonment so much precocious (subjects newly entered) as late (developed in the treatment). In addition also it predicts the adhesion and its corresponding factors. With regards to the methodology followed for the elaboration of the questionnaire:
•Construction of items:
1º Bibliographical extensive review to enter deep into the factors of abandonment and / or adherence to the treatment.
2º Retrospective study of two years (2007-2009) investigating the reasons of discharge in assistential devices of Fundacion Instituto Spiral, gathering both the most frequent reasons of abandonment and the factors that contributed to the adherence to treatment.
•Sifting-decantation of questionnaires up to the final study.
Sample formed by 231 addicted patients who realized treatment during the period 2008-2009.
1.-Control or adherent group: 177 subjects that remained two or more months in active treatment without intention of leaving
2.-Risk of abandonment group: 54 subjects that left the treatment in the 30 days following the formalization of the questionnaire.
The questionnaire is presented with the validation of percentiles, tables of adjustment and interpretation of results.
