ABSTRACT:

We want to pulse the clinical sensitivity in addicted subjects of the personality inventory of the DSM-5 (PID-5) for which a double study is carried out: 1) compare the results of the subjects who performed treatment with those who left prematurely 2) compare the results of those who continued treatment after at least 6 months. SAMPLE: it´s constituted by 294 addicted subjects, of which 132 remained 6 months or more. INSTRUMENT: the personality inventory of the DSM-5 (PID-5) (adults) was used, which consists of 220 items with 4 levels of Likert response that provides 25 facets and 5 domains of personality traits. RESULTS: Study 1): Facets anxiety, negative affect and risk assumption are similar in the two groups (± 1.6). Higher scores are always obtained in the group that abandons the treatment in emotional lability (1.64 vs 1.48) and impulsivity (1.53 vs 1.39). Study 2) Facets decreasing a lot (less than 1.5) are: anhedonia, depression and eccentricity (from almost 2 to 1.49). The facets of submission and perversion and the disinhibition domain decrease considerably (from more than 1.8 to 1.45). The factors impulsiveness and emotional lability decrease drastically from 1.98 to 1.54, although they remain slightly above the desirable average. That is, 18 facets over 25 and 4 domains over 5 decrease by almost 30 hundredths on average, but the data is either not significant, or remains above 1.5 points. CONCLUSIONS: It is a useful instrument to measure the evolution in facet addictions impulsivity, anxiety, emotional lability, depression, anhedonia, perversion and grandiosity and the domains negative affective and disinhibition. The rest of facets and domains are unsuccessful. DISCUSSION: The PID-5 inventory was created to measure the intra-treatment evolution. Despite the low sensitivity of the test in most factors, there is a select group of facets and domains of notable use in addictions, perhaps the abbreviated version of 25 items (or «one» abbreviated version ad hoc) could be an interesting instrument to measure the intra-treatment evolution.
